Key Features and Upgrades:
- Gapless Flex Hinge: The Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with a re-engineered gapless Flex Hinge, ensuring a smoother folding experience and a thinner profile when folded.
- Improved Processor: Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the device guarantees top-notch performance for all tasks and applications.
- Enhanced User Experience: Samsung has upgraded the “Flex Mode,” enabling more efficient multitasking while watching videos or making Google Hangout calls in the half-folded position.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Price and Availability:
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available starting from August 11, priced at $1799.99. It comes in three color options: Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream. The S Pen Fold Edition can be acquired by purchasing the Slim S Pen Case, available in blue, gray, or black.
Pre-orders for the device start on July 26th (U.S. time), and exciting offers include up to $1,000 off with an eligible trade-in and 30% off Samsung Care+. Additionally, purchasers have the opportunity to save up to $540 by combining the Galaxy Fold5 with the Tab S9 series and Galaxy Watch6 series.
Special Offer for AT&T Customers:
AT&T’s new and existing customers have the opportunity to receive up to $1,000 off the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with a trade-in of any Galaxy phone from any year and in any condition. Additionally, for pre-orders placed by Thursday, Aug. 10, AT&T is offering twice the storage.
Competition:
The $1799 Google Pixel Fold, released on June 27th, features a smaller form factor, catering to users with different preferences. The Pixel Fold’s main competitive edge over the Z Fold 5 is its slightly superior main camera system, offering a 5X optical zoom (vs. 3X for the Fold 5). However, the Google phone has a slightly lower-quality inner display with larger bezels compared to the Z Fold 5.
Redesigned Flex Hinge:
Samsung has completely overhauled its hinge design to eliminate the gap when the phone is folded. This design change has also been applied to the new Galaxy Z Flip 5. As a result, the Z Fold 5 is thinner (0.59”/14.98mm) and lighter (8.92oz/253g) compared to the previous model.
Display and Other Specifications:
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 boasts a brilliant 7.6-inch foldable Infinity Flex display with a peak brightness of 1750 NITs (compared to 1600 NITs on the previous model). The cover screen remains at 6.2 inches, with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The device also features a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covering the external chassis, offering better resistance against drops on asphalt and concrete.
Flex Mode and Multitasking:
Samsung has made significant improvements to the user experience, focusing on multitasking and the Flex mode. The interface now includes digital buttons for easy switching between the control panel and the list of videos when watching movies in Flex mode. Users can also utilize the bottom half of the inner display as a virtual trackpad to fast-forward videos.

Triple Rear Camera System & 2 Selfie Cameras:
The Z Fold 5 retains the same camera hardware as its predecessor, featuring a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP 3x optical-zoom camera. There are two selfie cameras, a 10MP when using the screen cover, and a 4MP built into the 7.6” foldable display.

SoC, Gaming Performance, and Battery:
With the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage) and a larger vapor chamber for improved cooling, the Z Fold 5 offers enhanced gaming performance. The 4400 mAh battery size remains the same, but the new processor and cooling system ensure sustained and efficient performance.
Charging Speed and Wireless Charging:
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 supports 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse charging. Unfortunately, a charger is not included in the box, and users will need to purchase the 25W adapter separately. Wireless PowerShare is compatible with Samsung and other brand smartphones with WPC Qi wireless charging. Please refer to the official product pages for the list of compatible devices.
