The thickness of the case is 1.67 cm, and the weight is 1.43 kg. Such parameters make it a compact and mobile device that you can always take with you, and at the same time, it will not weigh down the backpack.
The laptop has an island keyboard with sufficient key travel for comfortable work. It is worth noting that, unlike other Huawei laptops, in which you need to activate the keyboard backlight yourself, here it turns on automatically. In addition, the laptop automatically starts when you open the lid, no need to press the power button, just like in the MacBook.
MateBook 14S boasts a fairly rich set of interfaces. Among them are two USB Type-C, one HDMI, one USB Type-A, and a headphone input.
Display
Huawei MateBook 14S received a 14.2-inch display with a resolution of 2K. It has an IPS panel with an aspect ratio of 3:2. This is not the best solution for watching movies, but ideal for working with documents and websites, because more content fits vertically on the screen than on a conventional solution. For example, the height of a 14.2-inch Huawei MateBook 14S display with a 3:2 aspect ratio is exactly the same as a 16-inch laptop screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The screen brightness is 400 nits. This is enough even to work on a clear sunny day somewhere on the terrace of a restaurant.
Thanks to the IPS matrix, the screen has high contrast, and colors do not go into inversion when deviated horizontally or vertically. The display also boasts excellent color reproduction, covering 100% of the sRGB color space. Therefore, the laptop is perfect for those who work professionally with graphics, such as designers and editors.
The screen also supports a 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to this, the picture becomes smoother. This is especially noticeable while scrolling sites and shooters.
Thanks to thin bezels, the screen occupies 90% of the area of the top cover. In addition, there was a place for the front camera on the top edge. This will definitely be appreciated by those who often have to make video calls, because earlier in the brand’s laptops the front cameras were located in the keyboard, and this is not the best angle for calls.

Performance
The MateBook 14S is powered by a Core i7-12700H processor. And that’s something you don’t expect to find in an ultrabook. After all, the H-series is designed for super-powerful, heavy laptops with thick cases to install a large cooling system.
This processor has 14 cores: six productive and eight power efficient. The base clock frequency is 2.3 GHz. In Turbo mode, it can overclock to 4.7GHz. The base TDP is 45W, while in Turbo mode it is 115W.
Together with it, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM installed in dual-channel mode and 1 TB of storage on a high-speed SSD are on board.
Of course, to doubt the power of such a processor is stupid. It is enough for absolutely any task. All programs launch instantly, including Photoshop and Premiere. From a cold start, the laptop starts up in seconds. With speed, everything is fine here – this is the flagship.
It is important to understand that this is an ultrabook for businessmen and young people who need to work a lot with documents and office programs. Therefore, it will not work to mount the third Avatar, since there is no discrete video card.
Like percentage, the laptop scored 1591 in the single-threaded test and 6151 in the multi-threaded test. In the GPU test – 12,116 points. Thumbs up.

Despite the lack of a discrete graphics card, the integrated Iris XE copes well with simple titles, for example, in the League of Legends, it turns out to achieve a stable 80-90 frames per second in 2K resolution at high graphics settings. And in Genshin Impact at 2K resolution and low settings, the fps level is kept at a comfortable 30-50 fps.
Autonomy
MateBook 14S received a battery with a capacity of 60 W / h. With a balanced mode of operation (YouTube, Google Docs, Word, and surfing the Internet), you can achieve 7-8 hours of autonomy at a brightness of 70%. Enough for a work day. It comes with 90W fast charging, which can charge the battery by 50% in just half an hour.

MateBook 14S, like other brand laptops, is part of the Huawei ecosystem. Thanks to this, the device is easily and seamlessly synchronized with other company devices – smartphones, tablets, smart screens, and monitors. So, you can start working on a tablet, and then continue it on a laptop – all data is synchronized instantly. In addition, thanks to NFC, you can quickly transfer files from your smartphone to your laptop with one touch.
I liked the Huawei Sound speakers, of which there are four at once. The sound is very loud and detailed, with rich bass. This is one of the best Windows laptops in terms of sound.
